The Credit Card
Ok, so this year I got my first credit card. Its mostly for emergencies but also I can use it to buy stuff online so I can do that without my parents doing it for me. The lame thing is I'd only had it for a couple months when then number got stolen.

It got stolen when I started buying stuff online. I didn't have that much to buy, just stuff for my '75 Impala that I am working to restore. I've been working on it for years and my dad used to buy things for me and I'd give him money but now that I was done with high school I figured I could just get the stuff on my own. He thought that was good and that's another reason I got the credit card. I need to get stuff online because its not easy to find accessories for a '75. Not the good stuff anyway. I have to look everywhere for the stuff and the best place I found is ebay. They have everything. I got a rearview mirror on there and some rims and some tail light covers. But then one time I got an email about some problem with my paypal account. Paypal is how you buy the stuff on ebay. I logged in to fix it and it looked like no big deal and I forgot about it until the next month when my credit card was maxed out and I supposedly bought a bunch of stuff I had never bought.

I was so mad I don't even wanna say what I said about it. I showed my mom and she said I'd have to call the credit card people and cancel my card and probably do a bunch of stuff to make sure I don't have to pay for it. I called and told them and they asked how I gave away the number and I said I had no idea. They asked me a lot of questions until they found out about that email from paypal. They got really interested in that and had me send it to them. I still had it because I don't really use my email that much and I barely ever erase old stuff. It's kind of weird that I even saw the email in the first place. I guess it just came right before I opened it that day.

Later on the credit card people told me that email was from someone else, not paypal and I'd given my password away and then they got my credit card stuff from there. I couldn't believe I was so stupid. They said its called a scam called "phishing" where people pretend to be things like banks and when you click on stuff in the email it takes you to a fake site where they get you to log in. It doesn't log you in and they steal your password stuff. I guess people fall for it all the time but I still felt stupid.

My dad said I should be happy all I had to do was cancel my credit card and paypal account and I guess that's true but still I hate being had.

Don't Believe it? See for yourself:
